Updated NYS Vaccine Plan

Today Governor Cuomo announced during his morning press conference further details on the New York State COVID-19 vaccination plans. The Governor stated that the State will be receiving an initial round of 170,000 doses of the vaccine from Pfizer on December 15th, provided it meets all safety and efficacy approvals. To complete the vaccination protocol of the State’s first 170,000 people, 21 days later they will then receive the second 170,000 doses from Pfizer to finish this first round of the vaccinations.

In addition to the vaccines from Pfizer, the pharmaceutical company Moderna will also be delivering 40,000 doses of their two part vaccine about a week later. It will then follow a similar time cycle as the Pfizer vaccine with a second round two weeks later. Frontline healthcare workers and nursing home residents will be prioritized for this first round.

New York State COVID-19 Numbers

The statewide positivity rate yesterday was 4.63%. There were 69 COVID-19 deaths in New York State yesterday.
