Expanded Eligibility for COVID-19 Vaccines Begins on February 15
Governor Andrew Cuomo today announced the list of comorbidities and underlying conditions that New York State will use to determine eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine. Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today that with the continued lowering of the statewide positivity rate as well as the decreasing rate of hospitalizations, all Orange zone restrictions around the State have been lifted and only five communities remain within a Yellow zone, including certain parts of Washington Heights, Queens, Newburgh and two areas of the Bronx.

COVID-19 Transmission Rates Improving
During today’s COVID-19 briefing, Governor Cuomo announced that New York State’s rate of transmission (Rt) has dropped below 1.0. An Rt of 1.0 or more means COVID-19 will spread quickly.
Due to the declining transmission and infection rates recently, the Governor anticipates some reductions in business restrictions. Such announcements could begin as early as this week.
